Thread: R8 Transmitter Update 1.1.2 brings Firmware 1.0 for RC Eye

  1. #1

Question R8 Transmitter Update 1.1.2 brings Firmware 1.0 for RC Eye

    Hello everyone,
I have tried the update to version 1.1.2.
But unfortunately I get after the update the version 1.0 for RC Eye
and not the 1.1.2 for my NovaX 350.

    I tried both updates.
One in the R8 update and the other in the NovaX 350 update.
Both deliver the same result. Firmware 1.0!
Is it an error in the file or am I making an error?

After that I reinstalled the version 1.1.1 without problems.
This means that my transmitter works and accepts updates.

    Looing forward for solutions.

    Hey Michael,

I am currently checking on this. I will get back to you shortly. I believe it is just an oversight in the labeling, but will confirm on our end.

    Hey Michael,

The firmwares should be correct. The numbering somehow was not updated. Please accept my apologies for this. Unfortunately our IT team is our team is out for the weekend, so it won't be until Monday that we will be able to get the information correctly updated. However, I have tested the updates on my end and can confirm that everything should be fine.

Although the radio says 1.0 it also has a date of 08-Oct-2016 so this would be the correct firmware, just wrongly numbered to match up with the release version.

Again my apologies for this we will get it squared away first thing Monday! Thank you for pointing this out to us.

    Regards,
    Jamie

    Hey Jim,

Have you checked your port number on your computer to ensure you are using the right port? I've gotten that a few times before when the right port number wasn't selected.

Also ensure you are following the process of connecting step by step to ensure proper connection to your computer.

-Go to firmware upgrage pate in LCD menu of R8 remote. Press "Ok" and choose Yes.
-Connect R8 remote to trainer port to PC USB via upgrade cable that came with R8.
-Run the upgrade pack on PC and ensure to select correct COM port.
-Click "Start Upgrade" and wait for upgrade to complete.

See if that helps. I've installed a few times without issue's now.

    Regards,
    Jamie

    Hey Jamie,
I can confirm that the date of the firmware is 08.10.2016
Probably you are right with the labeling.

    @zimmy

I also had the problem with recognizing the com port.
The first time I had no connection.
I had to change the com port manually.
He stood on 4 and now on 9. COM 9 was the next free one.
After I had the CP210x UART bridge stuck out and connected to another USB, it worked.

it did say CP210x UART bridge on com port 3 the first time and after I did a driver update with zatig driver updater (I use this for my betaflight program) this did not work so I removed driver and reinstalled it and now it is port 4 still did not work

I do not know how to manually change com port

UPDATE got it working it did the update

#1 load the upgrade program, turn on the program
#2 plug in TX with it off
#3 turn on TX and go to firmware update screen click "ok" click update on the program
    #4 firmware updated
#5 shut off program and TX
#6 checked version on the TX it says " RC EYE 1.0 08-oct-2016 this is different than it was is this right

And still it does not work?

You can change the Com Port for the CP210X in the device manager.
Double click on the CP210x and then go to "Port settings" and then to "Advanced".

In the window that appears, you can change the Com Port.

    After that:

Remove the CP210x and plug it into your USB again.

    Hope it works.
